Classroom Tour 2019-2020

Here's a peak at my new classroom! I spent a few hours each week of the summer to get it ready. Luckily I was allowed in! I don't think that everyone should be going in and organizing their rooms all summer but it was a coping mechanism for me to handle the change of schools and routine. My RECEs love the set-up and I am excited to see how it evolves throughout the year. Take a peak through our space!

This is the view from the front door! You can see our carpet for whole group learning, art centre, writing centre and my work space in the back corner! We will co-create the number line posters at the beginning of the year.

Here is a closer look at our writing centre. It doesn't have a regular table but instead has lap desks, clipboard and a small table for the students to use! It's our version of flexible seating!

This is the art centre! Here they can create and display their art work! We will co-create the art posters together. It also holds our note totes- see picture below! These colour coded bags hold their communication note books that we use to write notes home to their families and vice versa!

Here is our loose parts centre! I will change up the materials here and am so excited to see what they create.

My favourite area of the room! The quiet centre. It features breathing strategy posters and printable yoga sequence books! Recognize those sensory bottles and panels?

This is my work area that I will be using instead of  a desk this year! I have materials stored behind me in addition to my day book, documentation book and student information sheets. You can also see my positive affirmations that we will use as part of our mindfulness practice!

I like to keep it nice and simple at the beginning of the year. A classic sand table is open for our friends to enjoy!

You can see my daily schedule on the board - I can't wait for the first day! If you are curious about our day to day schedule, you can check out this post with more information!
